BENTE28 UK Premiere! Wednesday 19th March 2025
The Small Yacht Company are unveiling the BENTE28, the latest model by the German manufacturer to come out of the Judel/Vrolijk design Studio at the South Coast & Green Tech Boat Show at Ocean Village Marina, Southampton on the 9th-11th May 2025.
With its hard chines and trade-mark IMOCA style ‘Dodger’ above the coachroof the new BENTE28’s looks will make it stand out from the crowd whilst offering a clever balance between a great sailing experience and wonderful après-sail living.
Cruising sailers will find plenty of comfort down below – this little yacht feels solidly built, sleeps up to 6 on sumptiously cushioned berths and offers plenty of room to stretch out, even in the generous heads compartment. The cabin table easily seats 6 whilst offering excellent views over the water. The dodger creates light, space and offers cavernous standing headroom in the cabin where it is needed most – around the galley, saloon and nav station. With great visibility all around, the plexiglass structure even enables crew members to keep a watchful eye on the road ahead and the sails above from the confines of the cabin!
Yet, this yacht is not all about comfort. In fact, under sail is where the Bente truly exells. A quick look at this boat’s lines and hard chines will tell you that the BENTE28 is quick, especially off the wind, with planing speeds achievable even by cruising sailers. The new Bente points well too, and, due to its the twin rudders, retains plenty of grip when heeled. Steering remains light whatever the conditions and the crew and helmsman can choose the comfort of the large protected cockpit benches or sit out on the generous coamings, whatever their preference. Racing crews (and sunbathers) will delight with the amount of room on the massive flat foredeck. Yet, depending on the sailing options chosen, all lines come back to the cockpit via the cuddy so that the crew can control the rig and reef in safety. In fact, this is a yacht which can easily be sailed single handed.
